Sacred Song

Join your voice on these open monthly Saturday morning workshops to co-create a beautiful and uplifting 'cathedral of sound' in this beautiful refurbished church.

 

Open to anyone who likes to sing for the pure enjoyment of it, regardless of experience. Equally suitable for people who’ve not sung with others before, and for people with lots of experience with formal choirs.

All songs are taught by ear, so there’s no need to read music. The songs we sing, in 3 or 4 part harmony, come from a variety of sources around the world. Here is a song we are currently learning; a round called Dona Nobis Pacem written by Mozart.

We sing lots of short, cyclical songs from various faith and spiritual traditions, which lead us into contemplation. These come from a variety of sources including Taize, Iona and Harmonic Temple. We also sing songs from the Gospel and Spiritual traditions, aswell as newer songs written in the same style.

NB These are not 'religious' events and are open to people of any faith or none who wish to connect with others in song.
