A Capella Singing For Everyone

From a childhood full of music and song, I started running informal singing sessions in the early 1990s. In 2000 I attended a Taize service and was deeply moved by the experience of unaccompanied voices singing 4-part harmony. This particular style of music remains a great passion. Three years later, I met and was inspired by various teachers within the Natural Voice Network, which led to me running regular groups and workshops.

I believe everyone who can talk, can sing and I am passionate about creating spaces for anyone who would like to sing for the pure enjoyment of it, regardless of experience. They are especially suitable for people who’ve not sung with others before, and can also be a refreshing change for people with lots of experience with formal choirs. There are no auditions and all songs are taught by ear, so there’s no need to read music. The songs I teach come from a variety of sources around the world.

Singing can be a powerful catalyst for change as we express ourselves alongside others. Its also a fun and relaxing time where you can unwind and enjoy songs you may not hear in other choirs.

In 2021 my a capella Chester groups combined to form Heart and Soul Community Singers. You can find out more by heading to our website at
